Elizabeth K. ("Betsy") Maurer, of counsel, joined the firm in 2008. She devotes her practice to employment law matters for private and public sector employers and management-level employees. As an employment lawyer, she works in the following areas:

  • Counseling on the employment relationship, including recruitment, hiring, compensation, prevailing wage, performance management, equal employment opportunity obligations, disability accommodation, family leave, workforce reductions, alternatives to layoffs, termination, and severance
  • Representing employers and managerial employees before local, state, and federal administrative agencies, and in state and federal trial and appellate courts
  • Developing and reviewing executive employment agreements, professional services agreements, and employment-related policies and procedures
  • Conducting independent workplace investigations into discrimination, harassment, and other allegations of employee misconduct
  • Facilitating training courses for managerial and non-managerial employees

Ms. Maurer was formerly a Corporate Attorney at Microsoft Corporation in its Employment Law & Benefits Group. In private practice, she worked at Sebris Busto, P.S., and Williams Kastner & Gibbs, LLC.

Ms. Maurer was named a Super Lawyer by Washington Law & Politics magazine in 2000 and 2001. "Super Lawyers" are selected by a poll of other Washington state attorneys, and this honor is accorded to less than 4 percent of all attorneys in the State of Washington.

In addition, Ms. Maurer was recognized by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine as one of "King County's Top Lawyers 2010."
